Adam Barton will miss Coventry's Capital One Cup trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.
The midfielder, a recent arrival from Preston, missed the final months of last season with a dislocated ankle and broken leg. And having only recently returned to action, Barton has now been called up for international duty with the Republic of Ireland's Under-21 side. It is a decision which has baffled manager Andy Thorn, who told the Coventry Telegraph: "Some bright spark decided he's fit for international football when he hasn't played a game for six months, which is absolutely incredible." Summer signing John Fleck misses out with a slight hamstring complaint sustained during pre-season, as do mlong-term absentees Cyrus Christie (knee), Conor Thomas (ankle) and David Bell (hip). Nathan Cameron (knee) has recently returned to training but he is not expected to be risked.
