Coventry are reportedly considering sacking Kevin Thornton after the midfielder was convicted for drink driving.
The 22-year-old Irish midfielder was convicted for being over twice the legal limit as well as failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without a full licence and with no insurance.
Coventry have launched an internal investigation into the incident and it has been suggested they will now show the Irishman the door at the Ricoh Arena.
A club spokesman told the Coventry Evening Telegraph: "We take all matters of discipline extremely seriously and have to go through the relevant procedures.
"We are urgently looking into this matter and have spoken to the player and several other parties surrounding what has taken place.
"The process is on-going and we will be having formal meetings with the player and his representatives before the matter reaches a conclusion.
"The club will be making no further comment until the conclusion of its investigations."
