Striker fee talk denied

Coventry City, 18:41, June 18, 2009 ,

Huddersfield Town have denied agreeing to pay Coventry £500,000 but will sign Robbie Simpson if he passes a medical.

The 24-year-old made 28 starts and netted seven goals in two seasons for the Sky Blues but was unable to establish himself as a first-team regular at the Ricoh Arena.
Terriers chief executive Nigel Clibbens denied reports that Huddersfield were prepared to pay close to half a million for the forward, whose fee is thought to be closer to £300,000.
"I can confirm we agreed terms with Coventry City on Monday for the transfer of Robbie Simpson," Clibbens told his club's official website.
"An offer of a three-year contract has been accepted following discussions and Robbie will join us after a medical and the paperwork is concluded.
"We don't usually comment on fees but we need to set the record straight this time. A fee has been agreed but the figures quoted in the media are off the mark.
"We are paying a fee now with some conditional payments which could be payable in the future."
