Crewe manager Steve Davis believes young attacker Nick Powell was worthy of a place in the PFA npower League Two team of the year.
England Under-18 international Powell swept the board at Alex's season awards over the weekend, collecting gongs for best player, best young player and goal of the season. However, he failed to get the nod from his fellow professionals, leaving Davis and some of his counterparts scratching their heads at Sunday evening's ceremony in London. "I looked at the team and I felt he should have been in it," he said. "But the players have voted for that. "I sitting on the same table as (Dagenham manager) John Still and (Bury manager) Richie Barker, who were both talking about him, and they were surprised as well - John was particularly surprised that he wasn't in there. "No doubt he'll be down there picking up some awards at some point - that's in the future for him. He's more of a team player now than he's ever been - he realises his role and the contribution he needs to make defensively as well as from an attacking point of view."
