Lancashire bowler James Anderson has been called up to the England Twenty20 squad to face South Africa this month.
The 30-year-old has not featured for the side in the shortest form of the game since he played against the Proteas back in 2009 but could start the game on Saturday at Chester-le-Street. Anderson was not part of the squad which won the World Cup in 2010 in the Caribbean and has not been named in the squad that will travel to Sri Lanka later this month to defend the title. With Steven Finn set to miss the upcoming series against South Africa due to a niggling back injury, which forced him out of the final one-day encounter with the Proteas, Anderson will look to fill the void. Having endured a disappointing Test series against South Africa, England selectors will be hoping Anderson can help England go into the World Cup in the sub-continent on a high.
