Form the key for captain Clarke
Australia captain Michael Clarke insists that age will not be a factor as selectors look to replace Mike Hussey.
The Baggy Greens have seen their experienced middle order decimated by retirements as Hussey has decided to call time on his international career, not long after Ricky Ponting also decided enough was enough.
The Aussies now have to find a quick replacement as they head to India on February 20, before back-to-back Ashes series later in the year.
With the side already going through something of a transitional period, there has been speculation that Brad Haddin and David Hussey could be called up, despite the fact that they are both 35.
Clarke though insists that age is no barrier and selection will purely be based on form.
"I've said for a long time that the number or the age is exactly that - it's just a number," Clarke told Foxsports.
"So if you're still performing well, if you're 17 years of age or if you're 37 years of age it shouldn't make any difference."
