Gooch keen to continue role

England legend Graham Gooch has hinted he is keen to continue working with the England batsmen after the first Test in South Africa.
The former England skipper has been drafted into the England coaching staff ahead of the opening Test of the four-match series in Centurion, which begins on December 16.
The 56-year-old scored nearly 9,000 Test runs in an international career spanning 20 years and also captained the side in the late 1980s and early '90s.
He has spent time since hanging up his bat as head coach of Essex, where he played his entire domestic career, but is currently employed as a batting coach at Chelmsford.
And the Leytonstone-born batsman is now working with the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood and Alistair Cook, as they look to continue the good work of the one-day squad in the five-day game.
Whether or not Gooch remains with the squad in South Africa after the first Test is open to question, but it appears he would be happy to prolong his stay with the national team if required.
"Initially it's helping out on a temporary basis - that's what Andy has asked me to do," he told BBC 5 live. "We need to see how we go from here and let the future take care of itself.
"I'm very happy to help the England set-up, having played, selected and coached with the team.
"I've always been keen on producing players from the Essex set-up for England and to be here working with some of them is a great honour."
