England will play four Tests against India this winter as the England and Wales Cricket Board revealed the tour itinerary.
Andrew Strauss will lead his men in four five-day games before Stuart Broad takes over for two Twenty20 matches.
Alastair Cook will then take over the reins for five one-day internationals with the sub-continental giants.
England will prepare for the arduous trip with a training camp in the United Arab Emirates - a venue that does not hold great memories after last winter's mauling by Pakistan.
The first Test beings on November 15 in Ahmedabad with the remaining Tests set to be played in Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur.
The T20 contests will follow before the players jet off home for Christmas, with the 50-over contests scheduled to take place in January after the players return to Asia.
Managing director of England Cricket Hugh Morris said: "This will be England's first full tour of India since 2008 and I am sure that cricket fans in both countries will be eagerly anticipating an exciting series of contests in all three formats of the game."
England have traditionally struggled on the sub-continent and the 3-0 defeat to Pakistan in the UAE proved that there is still plenty of work to be done if they are to repeat their dominance at home on overseas tours.
