England have been handed a boost ahead of the West Indies Series after it was confirmed James Anderson has not broken his right thumb.

The Lancashire pace bowler made his return to county action against England team-mates Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann's Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford on Wednesday morning.
However, Anderson hurt his thumb when fielding a James Taylor drive off his own bowling moments after he parried a Michael Lumb edge to Ashwell Prince at third slip.
He did manage to complete an impressive 10 overs at the cost of just eight runs, but left the field and went to hospital for X-rays immediately afterwards.
It was feared Anderson had suffered a fracture that would have ruled him out of the start of the Test series against the West Indies, which starts at Lord's on May 17 but he got the all-clear from the hospital and returned to the field in the afternoon session.
