Proteas slump in Johannesburg
Latest news update:
Jacques Kallis became the first South African to pass 12,000 Test runs, as the Proteas slumped to 266 all out against Australia.
The hosts again suffered a worrying batting collapse after losing their last six first-innings wickets for 25 runs, having been ticking over nicely at 241-4.
Kallis' knock of 54 included two sixes as he passed another milestone, while AB de Villiers and Ashwell Prince also weighed in with half centuries.
However, the Baggy Green bounced back with Peter Siddle accounting for Kallis and De Villiers in his figures of 3-69, while Nathan Lyon and Michael Clarke took two wickets apiece.
However, it could have been worse for South Africa after they lost skipper Graeme Smith for just 11 runs, before Jacques Rudolph went to leave the hosts on 43 for two in Johannesburg prior to their brief resurgence.
