Yorkshire opener Joe Root hit an unbeaten hundred as England Lions cruised to a 10-wicket victory over a depleted West Indies outfit.

The Lions were set 197 to win on the final day after wrapping up the tourists tail early in the morning session. Coles removed Denesh Ramdin and Ravi Rampaul to finish with hard-earned figures of 4 for 76. Kemar Roach did not bowl during the Lions' chase after taking a blow on his right hand during his batting stint, while Rampaul left the field after an opening four-over spell. Fidel Edwards was used sparingly despite his lack of cricket on the tour. Shane Shillingford and Marlon Samuels did the bulk of the bowling but could do nothing to break the opening partnership of Root and Michael Carberry. Root, like Kieran Powell on Saturday, hit his second first-class ton, while Carberry finished on 72. West Indies will have to improve both in terms of form and attitude in the first Test against England, starting on Thursday. On this form, the hosts are a good bet for a series whitewash.
