India spinner Pragyan Ojha has backed his side's batsmen to impress following a difficult first day against New Zealand in Bangalore.

The Indians dominated the opening test in Hyderabad and, following the Kiwis' issues with both bat and ball, they had been tipped to once again ease to victory in the second match. However, the tourists got off to a strong start in the second match and, despite Ojha taking an impressive 4-90 on the first day, New Zealand still managed to reach 328-6 before stumps. With both Kruger van Wyk and Doug Bracewell looking strong at the crease, it promises to be yet another intense day on Saturday but the spinner is refusing to get overawed and is confident that his own side's rearguard can easily outscore the visitors. "The way things are going it's a good wicket to bat," he said. "The kind of batting we have, I am quite confident we can put up a good score."
