Jonathan Trott has been ruled out of England's final one-day international against South Africa on Wednesday with a hand injury.
Trott was hit on the right hand by a short ball from Dale Steyn in the six-wicket victory over the Proteas at Lord's on Sunday and was sent for tests to ascertain the extent of the damage.
On Monday, the batsman was cleared of any "major fracture" but, after he missed practice in Nottingham on Tuesday, it always looked like he would miss the final ODI at Trent Bridge, which starts at 2pm on Wednesday.
As a result, Somerset batsman Jos Buttler has been called into the squad as cover with Jonny Bairstow likely to play as England hope to wrap up a 3-1 Series win with another victory over the tourists.
