Shane Warne feels it's time for the new-look Australian side to start producing results after slipping to fourth in the world rankings.
The Aussies have slipped back into the pack in world cricket after the retirement of big-name players such as Warne himself, Glenn McGrath, Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden and Justin Langer.
The once-dominant nation have lost Test series to India, South Africa and England in recent times as they continue to integrate new faces into the side under veteran captain Ricky Ponting.
But Warne feels that the new players have now had plenty of time to adapt to the pressures of five-day cricket and it is time to start producing on the pitch.
"You have to say the Australian side has been in a transition phase but there has to be a line - when does that transition phase stop?" he said.
"The side has been together probably for 18 months, so played three or four Test series, clocking up 12-15, nearly 20 Tests.
"Yes, be patient and we're going to be a bit inconsistent, but there comes a time when we say, we've had enough time, we know enough about ourselves, we've played enough Test cricket, it's time to start performing."
