Fitness race for defender
Crystal Palace, 09:14, January 27, 2010 ,
Crystal Palace centre half Claude Davis is in a race against time to face Newcastle after picking up a neck injury against Wolves.
The FA Cup clash was held up for over five minutes after the Jamaican defender fell awkwardly on his neck at the weekend before being stretchered off amid fears he had done himself a serious injury.
Scans have revealed no lasting damage though and Davis took part in some light training on Tuesday and will be given a late check ahead of tonight's clash.
"Claude went to a specialist and they were quite happy with him," Neil Warnock told sport Croydon. "He hasn't come up with the rest of the squad, but we will see how he reacts to a light session and if there is no adverse reaction he will come up to Newcastle separately.
"It is a relief that he is OK because it looked pretty nasty when it happened."
Clint Hill and Victor Moses have both picked up knocks but the hope is they will play.
"Clint just had a bit of a swollen knee," said the Eagles boos. "He's part of the squad for Newcastle but whether we will risk it or not we're not sure yet.
"Victor isn't 100 percent fit, but he wants to play all the time and we want him to play as well."
