Former Blade wants to cut Eagles deal
Crystal Palace, 15:16, June 19, 2009 ,
Striker Danny Webber is hoping that Neil Warnock hands him the chance to replace the outgoing Shefki Kuqi at Crystal Palace.
The speedy hitman is searching for a new club after being released from Sheffield United at the end of last season. And, despite a myriad of interest from foreign clubs, Webber would prefer to link up with former Blades boss Warnock at Selhurst Park.
He said: "I am speaking to a number of clubs at the moment and I've had a few offers from abroad as well, but I'm currently talking to a couple of clubs in England about joining them.
"I've had offers from various countries to go and play there, including Spain, Turkey, Australia and Greece, but I've got a lot more ambition to fulfil in this country before I consider going to play abroad.
"If it felt right and the club is ambitious, which Neil always is, then I would definitely consider going there.
"Obviously I have worked with Neil at Sheffield United, so linking up with him again would definitely be something I would be interested in."
It is thought Warnock will only contemplate a swoop for Webber if he fails in his bid to sign West Ham starlet Freddie Sears on a season-long loan.
Meanwhile veteran Finnish international striker, Kuqi, has been linked to Middlesbrough and West Brom after confirming that two of the three clubs relegated from the Premier League are interested in signing him on a Bosman free transfer.
He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I've not made a decision yet - I want more time to think.
"A couple of clubs that have come down from the Premier League have shown an interest in me."
