McCarthy won't be risked for Boro clash

Crystal Palace, 12:21, November 6, 2009

Paddy McCarthy will again be absent from the Crystal Palace XI for Saturday's visit of Middlesbrough due to an ongoing shoulder injury.

The Irish centre-half has already missed the last two matches after damaging the same shoulder which required surgery on it during the close-season. And, while McCarthy requires further surgery, he has been given the green light to continue playing but he will not be risked to face Boro.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock will continue with Jose Fonte and Claude Davis at the back against Gordon Strachan's side at Selhurst Park.

Loan striker Freddie Sears, who is fit following a recent groin injury, is pushing to start in attack after impressing as a half-time substitute in the 1-1 draw at QPR on Tuesday.

Young left-back Lee Hills and back-up goalkeeper Darryl Flahavan have been allowed to join Oldham on loan, while Calvin Andrew is still out with a knee problem.
