The Czech football federation has confirmed that striker Milan Baros has retired from international football.

The Galatasaray forward has scored 41 times in 93 appearances for his country but only managed one goal in qualifying for Euro 2012 and did not find the back of the net in Poland and Ukraine. Baros was still first choice for coach Michal Bilek, though, but now the Czechs have been eliminated he has decided to hang up his international boots. "After the team's elimination, Baros announced in the changing room that he is finishing with the national team," a statement from the Czech football federation said. "The 30-year-old striker has been under sharp criticism for a long time, culminating in the first Euro match against Russia when he was substituted toward the end and some fans booed him."
