Clough ready for Red Devils

Derby County, 12:05, January 19, 2009 ,

Derby boss Nigel Clough is looking for his players to bounce back from the defeat to QPR and clinch a place in the Carling Cup final.

The new Rams chief watched his side crash to defeat in his first game in charge at Pride Park on Saturday to leave them just two points off the Championship's relegation zone and in grave danger of going down for a second successive season.
However Clough must now prepare his troops for a League Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday as they look to maintain their 1-0 lead from the first leg courtesy of Kris Commons' strike.
He told BBC Radio Derby: "We'll try and pick them up on Monday morning and get a team out to hopefully try and hang on to the lead."
"We can't sit back because I think that would be fatal.
"We have a goal to protect but when we do get a chance to go forward then we're going to take it."
Punters who feel Clough has the ability to emulate his legendary father Brian's successful managerial spells at Derby and Nottingham Forest could use a £10 free bet to back his side to upset United on their home patch and secure a date at Wembley on March 1 where they will look to pick up the first piece of silverware of the season.
