Clough respect for first opponents

Derby County, 14:56, June 18, 2009 ,

Derby County manager Nigel Clough has warned his side not to take opening day opponents Peterborough too lightly.

The Rams will play Darren Ferguson's men at Pride Park in the season's curtain raiser on August 8.
The Posh will be on a high after winning back-to-back promotions and Clough has warned his side that they will have to be at their best if they are to claim all three points.
Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "It is good to be at home for the opening game of the season but we will have to be a little bit cautious.
"Peterborough will be relishing the prospect of coming to Pride Park but it is a chance for us to put a marker down for the season.
"I expect it will be a full house and we want to put on a good performance for the fans.
"It will be a tough game, without a doubt, but it is very important for us to get off to a good start."
Derby also played newly promoted opposition on the first day of last season in the form of Doncaster, who came away with a shock 1-0 win at Pride Park.
