Ward keen for more goals

Jamie Ward is hoping Derby can carry their pre-season goalscoring form into the npower Championship campaign.

Strikes by Mason Bennett, Ward and a brace from Theo Robinson helped the Rams to a 4-3 victory over Northampton at Sixfields. And the 26-year-old Ward now wants the Derby strikeforce to go into the new season firing on all cylinders. He told the club's official website: "It doesn't matter what sort of game it is, it is always nice to get a few goals and obviously it will give the lads a bit of confidence too. "It is good to score in any game. If you're scoring in pre-season you're going to take that confidence into the first game of the season, so yes I think it is crucial that you score goals in pre-season. "It's great to see Theo get his name on the score-sheet and nice to see Mason get his first goal."
