Boss thrilled despite result

Doncaster Rovers, 09:24, March 24, 2010 ,

Boss Sean O'Driscoll has nothing but praise for Doncaster despite their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, which ended a six-game unbeaten run.

Andy Carroll scored the only goal at the Keepmoat Stadium last night to virtually kill off Rovers' faint hopes of reaching the play-offs and took the Magpies a step closer to a swift return to the Premier League.
O'Driscoll said afterwards: "It was a tight game. We were excellent off the ball and stopped them getting any rhythm, which was important.
"They had to fight for everything and we had to be brave on the ball and I thought we were.
"We mixed it up really well, I'm just disappointed we didn't get a result."
Rovers did have the ball in the back of the net themselves shortly after Carroll's decisive second-half strike but O'Driscoll had no complaints about the decision to cancel out Billy Sharp's effort from a rebound.
He added: "He was right, by a smidgen. It was just offside and to be fair the linesman was alert and got it right."
