Coppinger makes a video bid

Doncaster Rovers, 17:43, November 26, 2008

James Coppinger has called for goal line technology after claiming he was denied a winner for Doncaster against Nottingham Forest.

The Rovers midfielder claims his effort at goal 15 minutes from time in the 0-0 draw on Tuesday was fumbled over the line by Forest keeper Lee Camp. However the referee's assistant failed to award the goal much to Coppinger's fury.

As a result the player feels video evidence could be the key to stopping similar incidents from occurring in the future.

He told the club's official website: "I'm convinced it went in.

"I've hit it and he (Camp) has fumbled it. It's then looked like he's got it back from over the line. The linesman was nowhere near close enough to give it and the referee was never going to give it, so it is really disappointing."

He added: "People talk about putting videos on the line and that could be the difference between going down or staying in this division - and that hurts."
