O'Kelly confirms Leeds interest

Doncaster Rovers, 16:19, June 5, 2009 ,

Doncaster have become the first club to express an interest in signing Leeds' transfer-listed striker Jermaine Beckford.

The Whites striker, who scored 34 goals in League One last season, was placed on the list last week after turning down the offer of a new contract at Elland Road.
The likes of Middlesbrough and Coventry have been linked with the 25-year-old, but Rovers are the first club to confirm an interest in the player.
Doncaster's assistant manager Richard O'Kelly told the Rovers website: "We would be interested in Beckford after we heard he was available, but he might be out of our budget."
Meanwhile, Rovers have indicated that they will make an improved offer for Whites midfielder Neil Kilkenny after Simon Grayson rejected their first approach.
