Rovers chief gives up on top-six bid
Doncaster Rovers, 13:08, April 6, 2010 ,
Sean O'Driscoll accepted defeat in Doncaster's bid for a play-off place but backed Monday's opponents Blackpool to grab a top-six spot.
The Rovers chief watched his side follow-up a 2-1 home defeat to struggling Plymouth on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat against the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road on Easter Monday. DJ Campbell tapped in after Gareth Roberts' error and substitute Stephen Dobbie's second half strike sealed the points for Ian Holloway's side to leave them just a point off sixth-placed Leicester, while Rovers are now nine points adrift with four games remaining.
O'Driscoll said: "I never really thought we had a serious chance of the play-offs in the first place.
"We are in our second season in the Championship, and I will not be losing any sleep over this.
"The pitch made it very difficult for the two footballing sides, but I am delighted for Blackpool. If they make it to the play-offs, they will champion the cause of the little clubs like ourselves."
