Defender surprised by Levein
Dundee United, 11:59, February 23, 2010 ,
On-loan Dundee United defender Andy Webster has admitted his call-up into the Scotland squad came as a surprise.
The 27-year-old was named in Craig Levein's first Scotland squad this week after an impressive campaign so far for the Terrors at centre-back while on loan from Rangers.
Webster worked under Levein at Hearts and then more recently at Tannadice and believes the new Scotland boss will improve the national team.
"Craig's very astute, very intelligent, very thorough in his preparations. Tactically we'll be aware," he said.
"Until the squad is officially announced you are a bit unsure if you are going to be involved or not," the centre-half added on BBC Scotland.
"It's another step in the right direction. I have played quite regularly this season and to get the international call-up is an added bonus.
"This has come as a nice surprise and it's something I'm looking forward to."
