Houston - We have a biggie
Dundee United, 12:38, February 18, 2010 ,
Dundee United boss Peter Houston believes Garry Kenneth can earn a move to the English Premier League if he keeps his good form up.
The former Scotland under-21 international has impressed at centre-back this term and has been the subject of several enquiries from English sides, although mostly from the Championship.
However, Houston reckons the 22-year-old could one day be plying his trade in the Premier League souith of the border providing he continues to improve at his current rate.
"He's grown up as a person and is learning more and more about the game. For me he's as good as any defender in the SPL when he is at the top of his form," the Tangerines boss said.
"Craig Levein and I pushed him from the minute we came in the door. Now he's looking the player we all thought he could be and Paul Hegarty coming in here will help him as far as being a good professional is concerned.
"Of course it's all right performing well for a handful of games. You have to do it over a season to prove you really are a player."
Houston added in the Press and Journal: "There would be nobody more delighted than me to see him move on to something bigger, if and when it's the right time for him.
"For me he is as good as any young player just below first-team level in the Premier League as long as he continues to be sharp up top, doesn't switch off or become lazy - all the things he used to be accused of."
