Houston to remain in charge
Dundee United, 18:30, January 28, 2010 ,
Interim manager Peter Houston will continue on as Dundee United boss for the rest of the season, the club has announced.
Houston ruled himself out of the running of the position on a permanent basis following Craig Levein's appointment as Scotland boss and started badly in his caretaker role, which included a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Rangers.
However, Houston has turned the form around and Wednesday night's 3-3 draw with St Johnstone ended a four-match winning streak, although the Terrors are 10 points clear of Hearts in fifth.
Following talks with chairman Stephen Thompson, Houston will remain in charge until the end of the season, and has been allowed to assist Levein for a Scotland friendly against the Czech Republic on March 3.
"Peter Houston was today confirmed as Dundee United team manager until the end of the season," a statement said on the club's website.
"Peter met with chairman this morning, with both parties agreeing that there was mutual benefit in continuing the present arrangements on a more permanent basis and both keen to put an end to continuing speculation.
"Peter has been granted permission to assist Scotland manager Craig Levein in March."
