Dutch legend Johan Cruyff is a reported target for the Liverpool director of football position after Damien Comolli departed.
The Reds' owners have not drawn up a shortlist of names for the vacancy, however reports claim Cryuff, Louis Van Gaal and former Barcelona director of football Txiki Begiristain are thought to be among the favourites to succeed Comolli.
Cruyff has held a supervisory role and worked as a technical director at Ajax while the 64-year-old also impressed during a spell as an advisor at Mexican side Chivas.
The former Ajax and Barcelona player, who recently left his position at the Amsterdam Arena, is rumoured to be a front-runner for the job at Liverpool where he would be expected to assist under-pressure manager Kenny Dalglish and lead the club's recruitment process.
