Luuk de Jong's agent has told Liverpool they face stiff competition for the Netherlands international's signature.
The Dutch striker has impressed for Twente in the Eredivisie and is expected to feature in Euro 2012 this summer.
The 21-year-old is contracted until 2014 but is tipped to leave Holland at the end of the season, with England his preferred destination. Liverpool are known admirers and look set to make a summer bid for the youngster.
Luis Laros revealed De Jong is waiting to see whether Twente qualify for the Champions League before deciding his future, something Liverpool will not be able to offer next season.
"Liverpool are following Luuk closely. But so are 15 other clubs," Laros told Voetbal International.
"Three big clubs that have qualified for the Champions League preliminaries have told us that they are ready to open talks with Twente. We will keep our eyes and ears open in the next few weeks."
