FC Groningen have sacked head coach Pieter Huistra following a disappointing season in the Eredivisie.
Huistra led the club to a mediocre 14th-placed finish in the Dutch top flight, failing to capitalise on last season's top-five finish, and has now been dismissed from his role after two terms with the club. Groningen made a positive start to the Eredivisie season in August but the former Ajax B coach won just one of his last 12 games in charge with the Green-White Army who finished the campaign six points above the relegation zone. The Euroborg outfit are now in search of a new manager for their 2012-13 campaign but it is so far unknown as to who will replace Huistra at the helm.
