Meulensteen denies Strootman move
Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has denied speculation linking the club with a move for young Dutch star Kevin Strootman.
The 22-year-old PSV Eindhoven midfielder is one of Holland's brightest stars and has lit up the Eredivisie this season. Manchester United have been linked with a £15m bid for Strootman, likened to former star Roy Keane, but Meulensteen played down talk of a move for the player. The first-team coach told Voetbal International: "The name Strootman has internally never been discussed. We follow every young player with potential. The same is true for example with Christian (Eriksen)." Meulensteen admitted he does not know much about the Netherlands international. "I don't have a very clear picture of Strootman as a player. In England, some media call him 'the new Roy Keane' but that seems like nonsense to me," he added.
