With the Eredivisie title in the bag, Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel can now focus on helping Holland capture Euro 2012.
The Ajax right-back is one of three Amsterdam-based players in Bert van Marwijk's national squad, but the only one assured of a place. The 24-year-old missed quite a lot of club football this season, having picked up a groin strain before Christmas, but returned to the fray in April in time to help Ajax to their 31st title.
Now he will join the national squad based in Poland to prepare for group B games against Denmark, Germany and Portugal in Ukraine, and with not too many options for the coach to call on, he looks set to make the starting line-up on 9th June.
As for the rest of the team, it will more or less be the same one that lost out narrowly to Spain in the 2010 World Cup final, with the only other Dutch-based player set to start likely to be left-back Erik Pieters of PSV Eindhoven.
