Vertonghen - Spurs are my 'preferred option'
Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen says he is still keen to join Tottenham despite their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
The Belgian has been regularly linked with a move to London over the last few months with Spurs' rivals Arsenal also expressing an interest in signing the Ajax skipper. Tottenham missed-out on a Champions League spot after Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to win the competition last Saturday, but the 25-year-old insists a move to White Hart Lane is still his 'preferred option'. "I never said that I will only leave Ajax for Tottenham. I only said that they are my preferred option," he told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwesblad. "I have a good feeling with the club and that matters to me. They have already invited me and want to wrap this up shortly. "They've told me that I'm their only option and that's a big compliment," he added.
