Daly wants Shamrock spirit

Dundee United's Jon Daly says they will use Shamrock Rovers as inspiration as they try to reach the Europa League group stage.

The Terrors start their qualification campaign against Dinamo Moscow at Tannadice Park on Thursday night after finishing fourth in the SPL last term. But they face a tough task against the Russians in the third qualifying round of Europe's second-tier competition. Daly was part of the United side that lost to Poles Slask Wroclaw in last season's competition on away goals and he knows that it will not be easy this time around. But he hopes to replicate the spirit showed by the Irish club 12 months ago as they begin their adventure. "After a long, hard season when you try and qualify for Europe, when you get there you want to qualify for the group stages and you want to get as far as you can," he said. "We look at Shamrock Rovers last year and what they did, they got to the group stages and got some big games and that is what you want to do."
