Arteta future latest

Everton, 17:33, January 1, 2009

Everton are yet to receive any offers for midfielder Mikel Arteta despite speculation several sides are interested in the Spaniard.

The stylish playmaker has been in fine form again for the Blues this season and there were reports Arsenal were set to tempt Everton with a bid in the region of £10million in the January transfer window.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger apparently views Arteta as the perfect replacement for the injured Cesc Fabregas and has been linked with a swoop for the Goodison Park ace.

However, no firm bids have yet been received by Everton and boss David Moyes will do all he can to keep one of his star players at a time when Everton's already small squad seems ready to mount a realistic challenge for a European place next season.

Several Spanish sides, including Real Madrid, are also believed to be monitoring Arteta's situation and could also mount bids in the next month.
