Arteta pushing for role

Everton, 11:39, January 27, 2010 ,

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is pushing for a start in tonight's clash with Sunderland but is likely to be on the bench.

The Spanish magician has been out of the side for the past 11 months with cruciate knee problems but returned as a late substitute in the defeat to Birmingham last Saturday and is now pushing for a start.
Jack Rodwell and Dan Gosling (both hamstring) could be fit again after their lay-offs but Moyes is still without a host of stars as Tony Hibbert (groin), Joseph Yobo (hamstring), Victor Anichebe and Phil Jagielka (knee) all remain out.
