Boss reveals transfer plans

Everton, 14:58, August 5, 2008 ,

David Moyes hopes to bring in at least one new face before the season kicks off with Newcastle's Alan Smith the latest to be linked.

The Everton boss has had a frustrating time on the transfer front this summer and has not managed to strengthen his squad despite being linked with a host of players.
Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho is known to be a target, while Smith has now been mentioned with reports claiming a cut-price £1.5million switch could happen.
"I was hoping to have added to the squad by now and brought a few in to give the players a lift," Moyes revealed. "It is not just a new face we need, it is new faces. My big concern is that anybody we bring in now probably will not be ready to start the Premier League season.
"It's now getting to the stage where you are wondering how long it takes for new players to settle."
However, Moyes is still hoping to get at least one new face in before they get the season underway on August 16.
"I am hoping we will have some in before the start of the season," he added. "But I am not going to turn around and say I am totally confident because you never know what happens. But, yes, I am hoping that we will end up getting a few in."
