Everton defender Sylvain Distin is not expecting a flurry of new signings this summer but he still thinks they will be tough to beat.

The 34-year-old contributed to the Toffees having the third meanest rearguard in the Premier League last term, with only Manchester City and Manchester United conceding fewer goals.
Distin, who was recognised by his team-mates as their player of the year, is convinced that kind of defensive platform gives them a very real chance of competing in every game they play.
Speaking in June's edition of the Evertonian magazine, the Frenchman said: "I think there were only two teams that conceded fewer goals than us and they were the two teams fighting for the title. I think that was an amazing achievement.
"We know we won't spend millions and if we are more or less in the same situation as last season, then we'll have to deal with what we've got. I think we've done pretty well. The stats are there for us."
On a personal level, Distin will be looking to carry on where he left off last season after being rewarded earlier this month with a one-year contract extension.
