Evertn switch for Gunners defender

Everton, 16:45, January 25, 2010 ,

Everton have signed Swiss defender Phillipe Senderos on-loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at AC Milan and was on the verge of signing for the Toffees in the summer but Arsenal cancelled the deal after Senderos' compatriot Johan Djourou was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
The deal has now gone through though and Senderos looks set be a direct replacement at Goodison Park for Lucas Neil who recently left for Turkish club Galatasary.
"I am delighted to be an Everton player for the remainder of the season," Senderos told evertonTV. "I can't wait to get stuck in and play for Everton.
"Hopefully I can get some first team football in during my time here. I am here with high hopes and hopefully I can fulfil them."
"I have spoken to David Moyes and he hopes to give me opportunities here. Hopefully I can grab that opportunity and stay in the team.
