David Moyes is poised to finally bring in some new signings this week and hopes to seal deals for Alan Smith and Stephane Mbia.
The Everton boss has so far been frustrated in his attempts to strengthen over the summer but reports suggest he is now close to completing deals for Rennes midfielder Mbia while he's held productive talks with Newcastle over a move for former Leeds and Manchester United ace Smith.
Cameroon international Mbia claims the Blues have offered £6million for him and he's desperate to make the switch to Goodison Park while it's believed Smith could cost as little as £2million.
CSKA Moscow's Brazilian striker Vagner Love has also been linked with the Merseysiders and he could join on a season-long loan deal but it appears Moyes' attempts to land Joao Moutinho from Sporting Lisbon's will be thwarted by the Portuguese side's £18million asking price.
