Everton seek to heal Angel's wounds
Everton, 13:08, November 4, 2009 ,
Premier League scouts are set to watch Benfica star Angel Di Maria when Everton go looking for Europa League revenge on Thursday night.
Di Maria helped the Portuguese Super Liga leaders thrash David Moyes' side 5-0 at the Estadio da Luz two weeks ago and has been watched by Chelsea Director of Football Frank Arnesen in Benfica's last three matches.
Sources claim Arnesen has recommended the left-sided Argentina playmaker to Blues coach Carlo Ancelotti together with two other Benfica players - Spanish midfielder Javi Garcia and Portugal Under-21 striker Fabio Coentrao.
Moyes has also previously shown interest in the 22-year-old ex-Real Madrid player Garcia, who has a contract in Lisbon until 2014 and a buy-out clause of 30million euros.
But the Everton boss will be more concerned about getting a win at Goodison Park tomorrow night as he contends with a major injury crisis.
However, Leighton Baines - whose absence in Lisbon heralded a torrid European debut for young right-back Seamus Coleman on the opposite side of Everton's makeshift back four - is available again and should solidify the home defence.
Fans who believe Everton can reap revenge over Benfica are taking advantage of Betfair's free bet offer and putting their money on Moyes' boys.
