Everton have agreed a fee with New York Red Bulls for Tim Cahill, who just needs to hammer out personal terms with the MLS side.
The 32 year-old looks to have played his last game for David Moyes and is expected to complete his move to the MLS in the near future, possibly before the end of the week.
His contribution to the side since he joined from Millwall for just £1.5m in 2004 has been immense, scoring 68 goals in 278 appearances, and he soon became a fans favourite but the past two years have seen a downturn in form.
Cahill, who signed a four-year contract with the Toffees as recently as May 2010, only scored three goals last season after going the whole of 2011 without finding the net.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Everton have agreed with Major League Soccer (MLS) that Tim Cahill can be transferred to the New York Red Bulls.
"Tim, 32, will move to the Red Bulls for a nominal fee, subject to agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He will travel to the US in the next few days."
