Fitness key for midfielder
Jack Rodwell - having missed out on the Team GB Olympic team - is keen to get a sood pre-season under his belt with the club.
The 21-year-old midfielder had been widely thought to have a great chance of making the 18-man squad but found himself overlooked when the final list was announced earlier this month.
It leaves the England international free to enjoy a full pre-season campaign with Everton and he is looking to use that to his advantage.
Rodwell is with David Moyes' squad at their summer training camp in Austria and he's hoping that he has put regular hamstring problems behind him as a he prepares for a big season with The Toffees.
"It is a disappointment but I think it's good for me to get a pre-season as well," Rodwell said."Obviously I would have liked to have played but I feel like I'm in the right place now, I'm feeling fit, I'm doing a good pre-season and hopefully I'm ready to go for the first game of the season.
"I just want to stay injury free and get a good run of games because everyone wants to stay injury free. I don't know if it will happen but, touch wood, it won't happen again."
