Jags return boost

Everton, 10:08, January 29, 2010 ,

Everton defender Phil Jagielka is closing in on a return to the side and may well resume training as early as next week.

The England defender has been out with cruciate knee damage and has had his share of set-backs during his rehabilitation but like Mikel Arteta before him he is now closing in on a return.
Boss David Moyes will not rush him back into the action for fear of any more set backs but there is now some light at the end of the tunnel.
Moyes told the Post: "He is doing OK. He has had a couple of complications, so we have to get him right, but like Mikel we will try and get him back as soon as we can. He is and has been so important to us.
"We hoped he would have been back in the first week in January, and back when Jo had gone, but he's had one or two things - cartilage and the fat pad in his knee has been causing problems. We need to get him up and running. It might take another four weeks until he is ready.
"Everything being well may join in training next week."
