Lescott lifts lid on £15m exit reports

Everton, 08:56, June 12, 2009 ,

Defender Joleon Lescott has avoided discussing reports linking him with a summer switch to Manchester City from Everton.

The 26-year-old England international, who played the full 90 minutes of his country's 6-0 World Cup qualifier win against Andorra at Wembley on Wednesday evening, has been linked with a £15million switch to big-spending City.
However, Lescott, who is contracted to the Toffees until summer 2012, chose to dismiss the claims as mere speculation and refused to discuss the prospect of departing Goodison Park.
"We do not see much of the media side when we are away with England, but you cannot stop the papers speculating," said Lescott.
"It is not a question I want to be answering, and no one has said anything to me other than I am an Everton player.
"I am going on holiday now with my family to wind down for the next couple of weeks and then I will come back fully focused on getting fit for pre-season."
