Everton boss David Moyes is scouring Europe for a loan signing after injuries sidelined strikers Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Louis Saha.
Moyes revealed the extent of the forward crisis at Goodison Park will force him into the loan market in January after Yakubu ruptured an Achilles and Louis Saha suffered a hamstring injury.
The French striker will be assessed by medical staff today but looks set to be out for several weeks, while 'the Yak' has already been ruled out for the rest of the campaign by Moyes.
"It's a massive blow for us," Moyes said. "His record in the Premier League is around 18 goals a season and to replace that is very difficult. I have Victor Anichebe and one or two other kids."
Yakubu fell awkwardly following a challenge with Ledley King early on at White Hart Lane and with James Vaughan requiring surgery on his knee, Moyes admits he needs a striker in on loan in January.
"That will be where we will try to see what is available," he said.
"The club gives us all the money they can. But as most people know, there are not big cash reserves - so we'll have to do what we can."
Russian Player of the Year Vagner Love was a target during the summer, but he is now expected to make a permanent move elsewhere during the January transfer window with CSKA Moscow aware of interest from Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich hitman Lukas Podolski could be available after falling out of favour under Jurgen Klinsmann, but if Moyes opts to look closer to home he could make another bid for Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
