New boy Steven Naismith says he is ready and raring to go for Everton's Premier League opener against Manchester United on Monday.
The Scottish international is on his way back from a cruciate ligament injury which decimated his last season at Rangers, but the 25-year-old is confident the problem is now behind him. Naismith, who joined the Toffees from the fallen Glasgow giants in the summer, again proved his fitness by playing in his country's 3-1 friendly win over Australia at Easter Road on Wednesday evening. In the wake of that result, the forward's focus immediately switched to making his mark with his new club as he revealed how he hoped boss David Moyes would let him play a part in their mouth-watering first game against United. "I am looking forward to it," he said. "I have a good pre-season and all that hard work is going to be put into practise. "Hopefully with what I have done in pre-season and what I do in training in the next few days, I can show the manager I am capable of starting."
