Toffees have top-four credentials - Yobo
Everton, 09:50, June 23, 2009 ,
Joseph Yobo feels a slight financial injection would give Everton the capabilities to become a top-four Premier League side.
The Nigerian international central defender was impressed with the Toffees' campaign in which they managed a fifth-placed finish and reached the FA Cup final. However he feels David Moyes' side have the foundations of a team which could challenge the 'Big Four' and the likes of Manchester City, who have already spent big money on Gareth Barry and Roque Santa Cruz this summer.
Yobo has pleaded with chairman Bill Kenwright to hand Moyes a blank cheque to strengthen the Merseysiders' squad and help realise their domestic and Europa League potential next season.
"With a better financial backing, we can be in the top four before long," Yobo told Lagos-based TV station Galaxy. "We have a very bright future ahead. We have finished these past two seasons within the top six and we are still growing as a team. I believe that in the very near future we will break into the top four in England."
Punters who feel the Toffees are ready to push on to the next level can use a £10 free bet to back them to break the top-four monopoly, while also going one better by securing some silverware in 2009/10.
