Toffees join the race for Celtic star

Everton, 12:20, December 27, 2009 ,

Everton have joined the race to sign Celtic winger Aiden McGeady but they would need to stump up around £8m to get his signature.

The Scottish giants are loathed to sell him though during next month's transfer window but that is unlikely to stop some clubs from testing the water with a bid for the Republic of Ireland international.
Spurs and Birmingham have also expressed an interest in him and while Tony Mowbray may be able to hang onto the 23-year-old during January, a summer exit seems almost inevitable.
McGeady was Celtic's top man again in the 2-0 win over Hamilton and Mowbray has urged his board not to sell as he looks to secure the SPL title.
